How to select water features that will inspire you

This guide will assist you to learn more about the wonderful array of water features now available for indoor or garden use.

Personally, I've always found the sound and appearance of moving water to have wonderful calming effects - maybe it's a sense of being reconnected with nature that does the trick. Recapturing the sound of the 'bubbling brook' or waves breaking upon the shore is a great way to induce a more relaxed state of mind.

Of course before we all began living in cities, the occurrence of natural water was often the very reason we chose a particular site to set up a temporary shelter, a home or a village.

And as our homes became further removed from the stream, lake, seashore or other natural water feature we began to build our own. We brought to the center of our towns, ornamental water features such as fountains and ponds, together with other more pragmatic water features such as drinking fountains, wells and horse troughs.

It was captioned as followed: The Hopetoun Falls is a waterfall in Victoria, Australia. It is in the Otways National Park about 2 hours west of Melbourne. That's why I claim they're in my backyard!

Coming back to the present it seems that every second home, garden, shopping mall, hotel and office foyer and entertainment venue has its own water feature!

As we have seen, the benefits of water features have long been recognized so what has changed that has seen the popularity of man-made water features soar?

The answer is to be found in new technology that makes our water features:

    - more attractive (natural or conversley, spectacular)
    - cheaper to buy
    - cheaper to install
    - easier to maintain
    - lighter and easier to handle
    - cheaper to run (using modern water pumps and filters).
It's my goal to be able to show you a wide range of water features and provide you with enough information for you to confidently select the water feature that will bring you pleasure for many years.

Whether you select an indoor feature such as a fabulous waterfall or a water feature for your garden such as a fountain, pond or birdbath, you are making an investment in you own lifestyle.

You can also learn about accessories such as pumps, filters, water plants, rain barrels and even butterflies!
