Wonderful Garden Waterfalls
Garden waterfalls come in many styles and scale many sizes. In formal gardens the cascade itself can be formal - a solid sheet of water that presents a wide, flat flow like glass or an arching stream shooting water out in a jet. An informal setting will often emulate a natural waterfall, often cascading over boulders. Just going back a few years such waterfalls used real boulders and normally required a landscaper or other professionals to install. But this is the 21st century! Now we can readily obtain preformed (synthetic) boulders/ waterfalls/
ponds
that look identical to the real thing. Advantages of preformed water features include: - Lightweight and therefore easier to transport and manoeuvre into position
- Designed for easy installation in a garden
- Made so that the water flows where it was meant to!
- Can be pre-drilled for extra fittings such as lights
- Are often supplied with the matching pump of the right capacity
- Available in modules so you can create your own watercourse
While the traditional garden waterfall or watercourse flows into a pond, it is now quite feasible to have it 'disappear' into a small reservoir. The reservoir is designed to hold the
pump for your garden waterfalls
and sufficient water to operate it. River pebbles or artificial rocks can be used to camouflage the equipment housing. A 'pondless waterfall' would suit you if you wanted a low maintenance water feature. You just need to add water every few weeks to compensate for water loss due to evaporation. You can also choose not to operate it for extended periods as there is no ecological need to continuously run the system. Also if child safety is a concern then this could be a good option.
