Guide to Pond Fountains

Pond fountains have been popular for centuries, but the variety of inexpensive pond fountains available today would have astounded our forefathers. In addition to pond fountains we have a guide to another favorite garden fountain - wall-mounted fountains. A pond fountain allows you to introduce the sight and sound of gushing water to an area where it is difficult to have a waterfall. It is often favored as an ornament in a formal water garden because you can quickly establish the garden's theme by selecting a particular style of fountain.

An additional benefit of a fountain is oxygenating the pond water which helps to keep fish healthy.

Remember, if you are establishing a natural look water garden then a prominent pond fountain may look out of place. However, a low bubbling style fountain head may suit.

Fountains, of course require pumps. The styles of pond fountains available today still include the classic statues, animals and formal designs that were traditionally made of stone or metal. Modern technology and materials has allowed us to buy and instal one in our garden pond much more easily and cheaply. In addition we can now buy from thousands of designs and shapes. We can even get floating fountains and built in illumination.
