Pond Rocks make the difference
The effective use of pond rocks can make the world of difference to the attractiveness of your garden pond.
Types of pond rocks
Two basic types of rocks are popular - natural and artificial.
- Natural rock is quite often used for formal settings particularly pond edging. Sometimes cut to regular shapes (flagstone and slate for example) or used in pieces of original shapes.
- Artificial rock made from fiberglass and plastics and usually shaped to resemble boulders.
Some advantages of each type for use as pond rocks:

When using multiple pieces of natural rock make sure they are all of the same geological type and if possible with some moss and lichen attached. For pond edging choose rocks giving a 3-to 4-inch deep face to the water, a flat surface to the site or ground level, and which are in proportion to the size of the rock garden pond, and similar in size to each other.
