Preformed Ponds for Instant Water Gardens

In just a day or so a preformed pond can transform your garden.

Installing one is easy, although it does require a strong back. You just dig a hole, drop in the fiberglass or plastic shell, check that it is level, then fill it with water and plants.

By edging it with with rocks and low growing plants, your pond becomes graceful and invitingly natural-looking very quickly.

Preformed ponds come in a variety of sizes, shapes and depths. Despite their their bulk, most shells are light in weight. Some have smooth vertical sides, while others imitate natural rock. With modern plastic injection techniques the imitations are now hard to pick from the real thing. Some shapes have shelves at different depths to hold water plants. Others combine waterfalls with a rock pool.

The size of your pond is important. The smaller your pond the greater the impact of seasonal and daily temperature fluctuations, and the less stable the overall pond environment will be. Preformed fish ponds are very popular.
